WANTED: Your Rescue Stories of Animals Adopted from Live and Let Live Farm

We want your rescue stories and pictures of the animals that you adopted from Live and Let Live Farm. If your story is of a PMU adoption please send it to us and to www.savingtheinnocents.com as it will be posted on that website for people to see how wonderful these PMU horses can become, and why they should be given a chance other than slaughter. We all may experience some challenges, but very rewarding baby steps.

Please send your stories to:

Our Other Friends

This beautiful, young 10 month old kitten is Tripod, renamed Lucy by her adoptive parents.

Tripod "Lucy" is one of the animals Live and Let Live Farm rescued from Kentucky to save her life. Tripod needed costly surgery to have her leg removed in order to save her life shortly before being transported to N.H.. Our great and caring volunteer Kate, Lisa out of Kentucky along with Teresa, Janice, Jill and Melissa
all worked together to spread the word and bring Tripod and 17 other dogs, kittens and puppies safely home here to New Hampshire and into great adoptive homes.

NEW updated link for small animals available for adoption at LLLF. Go to http://www.deszone.net/animals.html

BRINGING THE BABIES HOME

Volunteers of Live and Let Live Farm Rescue of Chichester New Hampshire have come together, burrowed the funds and brought the baby horses, foals ("Premarin Foals") safely home to New Hampshire.

These baby horses and many others are the by products of the drug manufacturing industry. These drugs are being made for the relief of menopausal discomfort which is extracted from pregnant mares urine "PMU" (e.g. Premarin, Prempro).

At the peak of the Premarin drug manufacturing, up to 70,000 pregnant mares were on the line for the production of the hormone drugs until 2004/2005. When it was discovered that these hormone drugs extracted from the urine of pregnant mare horses were found to be physically harmful to woman, which increased the chance of breast cancer, blood clots, and many more harmful side effects. This caused a huge cut back by Wyeth in the use of Premarin, Prempro and other PMU based hormone drugs, cutting contracts with ranches in response to decreased demand.

Over 7,000 pregnant mares remain on the PMU lines with baby horses needing homes. Many more closed ranches with closed PMU contracts which are also sending their PMU foals to auctions are in need of homes.

To find out more about the Premarin Industry please click on the Horse section and go to the story written by Heather Evans, which has been published in The Natural Horse magazine.

Live and Let Live Farm Rescue volunteers have many baby horses "foals" available for adoption and they need your help.

Benefits of Red Light Therapy

Live and Let Live Farm has had some great success using the Sumerel Therapy System (STS2) on some of its animal friends.

The Sumerel Therapy System is a two part system which first locates a physical problem then, with light therapy, helps correct those problems. The technology used in this approach has been used in both the human and animal care industry for years with impressive results. Click Here to read more.

A Note From Teresa
Just wanted to make sure everyone knows: helping to stop the use of Premarin is helping to stop Breast Cancer.

Premarin is not a cure, it is a known cause for Breast Cancer. Let's stop Breast Cancer before it starts.......Please get your relatives and friends who are marching for a cure for Breast Cancer know that they are also marching against Premarin, a cause of Breast Cancer.

Please ask them to support us against the manufacturing of Premarin by carrying a sign when they march. Some suggestions for a sign:
"Premarin Is Not The Cure"
"Stop Premarin and beat a cause of Breast Cancer"
"Fight Premarin, defeat the cure that is the cause"
"Premarin not the cure, but a cause of Breast Cancer"
"How many woman and horses must die for Premarin??"

PREMARIN RESCUE

Thanks to your support, Live and Let Live Farm was able to rescue four truckloads and adopt out 104 Premarin mares, pregnant mares and foals that were slated to go to slaughter in 2004/2005. See the Horses page for their story and photos of their arrival.

Also help Heather Evans in her effort to save PMU mares, foals and stallions from slaughter. Visit her website, "Saving the Innocents" for more information and to read her letters from June and July.

We are still trying to figure things out on how to fight Wyeths decision, raise funds and also we are still hoping to save some PMUs in the near future.

Please come on a tour/visit on Sundays at 2:30pm to see available horses/animals. Directions are listed on our contact page.

SLAUGHTER-BOUND HORSES IN IMMEDIATE NEED OF HELP!!!
Sara Gruen is a supporter of Live and Let Live Farm and author of the novels Riding Lessons and Flying Changes. She says, "I was horrified to discover that the foals that are quite literally byproducts of this Premarin industry go to auction, and from there, almost always to slaughter."

Sara is working hard to get the word out to help save PMU mares, foals and stallions. She has written a press release on behalf of Live and Let Live Farm. Please view it in the Archive section of the News Letters & Articles web page. Feel free to pass it on to your local paper or use it to make posters.
