 The
main reason the farm exists is for the horses. When a horse or pony is surrendered
to the farm, we evaluate it and start a rehabilitation program. That horse
is immediately available for sponsorship through its rehabilitation. After
the animal has recovered, it may move into a co-ownered program, or be adopted
out. There are some horses with special needs, or older horses, that are
given lifetime care at our farm. Although they can’t be adopted out, these
animals still need sponsors and co-owners.
Occasionally, animals other than horses and ponies are placed at the farm.
Please click on the Other Animals link to check out these animals. |

| Surrendering
a Horse or Pony to the Farm |
Live
and Let Live Farm does not investigate abuse or neglect cases. If an owner
can no longer care for their horse or pony, they are requested to contact
us directly. We arrange to make a site visit and, if there is room at the
Farm, determine if and when the animal can come to us. The owner must sign
complete and total ownership of their animal over to the Farm. Although
there is no charge to turn over an animal to Live and Let Live Farm, we
encourage owners that are surrendering their animal to make a tax deductible
donation to help provide for the care of their animal. Click
to download Owner Release Form. |

| Adopting a Horse/Pony from the Farm |
|
The
first step in adopting an animal from us is to fill out a pre-adoption
application and come for a tour of the Farm. General Farm tours are done
every Sunday at 2:30pm. We will not adopt you a horse sight unseen. We
do our best to assure a good match for both you and the horse/animal.
So we ask that you first sponsor (sponsorship to adopt generally is not
available for Premarins) or foster to adopt a horse first if you have
other horses at home. We request that you come and spend time volunteering/working
with an animal prior to adopting them. Most premarins are pre-adopted
in order to be able to save them from unfortunate circumstances, as we
do not have the funds to save a trailer load. If you are an experienced
horse person, and would like to take the horse home for a trial period,
we offer a Foster Program. We may also want to make a site visit prior
to your adopting. Co-ownership is only done with special horses staying
at the farm indefinitely.
There is a general office fee of $200 to adopt a horse that
has been surrendered to the Farm. Along with this fee, a predetermined,
tax-deductible donation amount will be required which is computed by the
amount we have invested into the animal and its abilities.
Total
adoption fees vary greatly depending on the animals needs, cost of care,
capabilities, breed, all to be determined by individual animals and circumstances.
Total adoption fees for horses may be from $500 to $2500 which includes
the $200 administration fee. Average horse adoption is $900.
Live and Let Live Farm adoptions are done at the discretion
of the Executive Director and/or the Board of Directors, with the final
deciding factor being that the animal has "clicked" with the humans that
want to adopt him or her. Adoptions are “as is” situations and there may
be health and/or behavioral issues that Live and Let Live Farm is not
aware of with the animals. Adoption fees are nonrefundable. If an adoption
does not work out or circumstances change that owners can no longer keep
the adopted animal, the animal can be surrendered and returned to Live
and Let Live Farm. Click

| Live and Let Live Farm Needs Help Identifying
These Horses |
| We have recently received 5 horses from the "Horse Hearts
of America" which claimed to be a rescue but was not a licensed or
a true rescue in the Northern towns of NH, and Vt. We have worked with the
NH State Police to safely bring these horses to Live and Let Live Farm Rescue.
 We
have renamed these horses, we have no information "what-so-ever"
on them. We ask anyone that knows these horses to please contact Live
and Let Live Farm Rescue as we would like to find out any information
on them and we also would like the previous owners to know these horses
are now in a safe place here with Live and Let Live Farm Rescue.
Beauty is an all Black Mare that is several hundred pounds underweight
and seems depressed and is very wary and untrustworthy of humans. She
is approx. 16 hands.
Fluffer
Nut is a 10 plus hand white pony. He is very cute but also very untrustworthy
of humans
Lolly Pop is a beautiful paint gelding, approx. 15 hands. He seems to
like humans and is very sweet. His feet are in extremely poor conditions,
had broken nails in his feet along with only one front shoe that may have
been on him for about 10 months as the hoof was actually growing around
the shoe and he is in alot of pain.
Nutmeg,
is a nice looking horse, we were told is a Morab and is a bay mare, 15
plus hands. We were also told she is pregnant. She is untrustworthy of
humans but tries really hard to still be friends and please.
Cinnamon
is a nice looking chestnut mare, 14 plus hands and is settling in but
also untrustworthy of humans.
These horses need vetting, hoof care and dental work along with a lot
of patience and kind but secure handling.
We need your help.....donations are needed to help care for and feed
these horses, and the many other horses that come to Live and Let Live
Farm Rescue in need.

Don't Cry for the Horses
Anonymous Author
Don't cry for the horses that life has set free.
A million white horses forever to be.
Don't cry for the horses now in God's hand.
As they dance and they prance in a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep.
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound. On silver wings they fly.
A million white horses against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven, you'll see them above.
The horses we lost, the horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing they gallop through time.
They were never yours - they were never mine.
Don't cry for the horses. They'll be back someday.
When our time is gone, they will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker? Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses. Love the ones that are here.

| There is an Indian Legend......... |
When a human dies there is a bridge he must cross to enter
into heaven.
At the head of that bridge waits every animal he encountered during his
lifetime .
The animals...decide which humans may cross the bridge...and which are turned
away.
