A message from our founder

As a young girl growing up I had two dreams. The first was to have a permanent place to call a home of my own. The second was to work for an animal rescue - one that would take care of, help and save horses.

So, many years later, with endless hard work and struggles, I have gone beyond my wildest dreams and founded Live and Let Live Farm's Rescue and Sanctuary.  The Farm is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 charitable foundation that rescues, rehabilitates, and offers sanctuary to animals – mainly horses. The Farm is a place of peacefulness where people can come to interact with the animals. They learn while helping the needy but loving animal friends of Live and Let Live Farm.

“Live and Let Live Farm has become a place of hope and healing for countless people and animals that have come through its gates.”

Founded in 1996 and officially established in 1997, Live and Let Live Farm Rescue broke ground that same year on its current home on Paradis Lane in Chichester, New Hampshire. The organization was incorporated in 2002 and has grown from a small rescue effort into one of the region's largest sanctuaries for animals in need.

What began on approximately 70 acres has grown significantly over the years. As of 2026, the rescue is in the process of acquiring an additional 83 acres bordering nearly three-quarters of the existing property. (Special thanks to Hardwick & Sons Logging and Forever Forest for helping make this extraordinary opportunity possible). Once completed, the expansion will bring the property to more than 150 acres, ensuring room for the rescue's growth and evolution over the next 25 years while protecting surrounding wildlife habitat and preventing residential development from encroaching on the sanctuary's peaceful setting.

Today, the rescue provides sanctuary and rehabilitation for a wide variety of animals. At any given time, the farm may care for as many as 84 horses, along with herds of goats and many other rescued animals. The campus includes numerous paddocks and outdoor shelters for farm animals, a dedicated volunteer recreation and gathering space, a feeding facility, a large indoor rehabilitation structure for large animals, and a small animal adoption and quarantine center.

For nearly three decades, Live and Let Live Farm Rescue has remained committed to its mission of providing compassionate care, rehabilitation, and a safe haven for animals while creating opportunities for education, volunteerism, and community involvement.

In 2026, we proudly celebrate two major milestones: 30 years since the founding of the rescue and 25 years as an officially established animal rescue organization. These anniversaries reflect the dedication of our supporters, volunteers, staff, and community members who have helped make our growth and impact possible.
