Volunteering at Live and Let Live

Volunteers are the humans who give unselfishly of their free time to help with stacking hay, feeding, cleaning stalls, run ins and paddocks, building and general maintenance, gardening/landscaping, phone calls, transport, fundraising, and so much more. Without volunteers, all would be lost and we could not help the animals in need.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please attend one of our weekly tours or fill out the form at the bottom of this page for more information.

What are the ways I can volunteer?

While working with the animals - feeding, socializing, cleaning, etc. - is always needed and appreciated, there are countless other ways you can help.

We also need volunteers that can do grant writing and research, office work, financial work, staff a Live and Let Live table at fundraisers, as well as help building/repairing fences, run-in shelters and paddocks. Additionally, we have gardens throughout the property so people with green thumbs are appreciated.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! If you’d like to volunteer, no matter your skills or abilities, there’s a place for you here.

The animals of the farm

Live and Let Live Farm's Rescue and Sanctuary is not a stable that is open to the public for riding, boarding or lessons. We don't have a lot of beginner horses, and we have many horses with special needs. Additionally we rescue a variety of other animals, all of whom have their own, individual idiosyncrasies.

Children and families

Volunteers do most of the work at Live and Let Live Farm's Rescue and Sanctuary. We always need help taking care of the horses and with maintenance of the farm, so people of all skill sets are welcome. We don't have the staff to supervise children, but our horses still need interactions with people, so we encourage families to get involved. Children cannot be left unsupervised on the farm property.

How Much of a Commitment is Being a Volunteer?

We need more dedicated, committed volunteers to help feed the horses and do chores on a daily basis. Do you have one morning or evening available a week that you could commit to feeding? or cleaning stalls or paddocks? Or watering? Even an hour once a week, on a consistent basis can contribute. If you can commit to the same time, the same day, and the same chore every week, that would be wonderful.

Contact us for information on becoming a volunteer

Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, the first step at this time to becoming a volunteer is to contact us using the form to the right. All inquiries go directly to our Volunteer Coordinator.

If you are given a time to come to the farm to start your volunteer training, you will need to fill out the paperwork listed below and bring the completed form with you. For liability reasons, all volunteers MUST fill out this form in order to step foot on the rescue.

Visitors without an appointment will be asked to leave. Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue and Sanctuary is a working farm and therefore, specific training and guidelines must be followed by all.
